AB or BC?

AP Calculus AB and BC share the same core concepts, but BC moves at a faster pace and includes additional topics that build on the AB curriculum. Understanding which concepts belong to each course can help students focus their preparation and identify where additional support may be needed.

AP Calculus AB

The AB curriculum focuses on the foundational ideas of calculus, including limits and continuity, differentiation, applications of derivatives, integration, and applications of integration. Students develop an understanding of rates of change, accumulation, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and how derivatives and integrals can be used to model real-world situations.

AP Calculus BC

The BC curriculum includes the full AB curriculum while extending into additional topics such as parametric and polar equations, vector-valued functions, advanced integration techniques, and infinite sequences and series. The BC course also moves more quickly, making a strong conceptual foundation particularly important.

What Can We Work On?

AP Calculus tutoring can provide support throughout the school year, from building a strong understanding of limits and continuity to applying derivatives and integrals in increasingly complex situations. Work through topics such as rates of change, related rates, optimization, curve analysis, accumulation functions, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and differential equations.

For BC students, coursework may also include parametric and polar functions, vector-valued functions, integration by parts, improper integrals, logistic models, and infinite sequences and series. Lessons can address difficult homework problems, clarify challenging concepts, or strengthen prerequisite skills before moving into more advanced material.

As the AP exam approaches, lessons can also incorporate AP-style multiple-choice and free-response questions, calculator and non-calculator practice, pacing, and communicating mathematical reasoning.

Yes! Whether you need help with online assignments, written homework, test preparation, or deep conceptual understanding, we'll tailor each session to your specific needs.

How do online sessions work?

We use an interactive virtual whiteboard to collaborate in real time, writing equations, drawing graphs, and working through problems together. Students can see and contribute to the work as we go, making online sessions interactive and hands-on.

What if I'm really behind in class?

Don't worry. We'll start wherever you are, identify any gaps in your understanding, and create a plan to get you back on track. My goal is to help you build confidence while catching up.

Do you assign extra homework?

Yes, when it makes sense for the student. Our tutors can share worksheets and practice resources from our extensive library based on what you're currently working on or where you may need additional practice. These resources can help reinforce concepts, strengthen problem-solving skills, and give you a chance to practice independently between sessions. They’re never “due,” though! The goal is to give you useful opportunities for extra practice—not to add more pressure to an already busy schedule.
